This refreshing lime and mint Mojito Infused Detox Water is a true powerhouse! Not only does this cold beverage taste delicious, but it can also help with weight loss and digestion…what’s not to love about that?!
As the summer sun beats down, it can be hard to stay well hydrated! Did you know that drinking enough water can help control calorie intake, energize muscles, keep skin looking younger, and prevent constipation? (source)
Since plain water can get pretty boring, I’ve been adding fruit and herbs to my pitchers for years. It’s a quick, easy, and cheap way to make a cold beverage taste like an exotic treat…while keeping it healthy!
I currently have two different mint plants in my herb garden that are doing really well, so I’ve been adding the leaves to a lot of different dishes. I’ve been enjoying Mint Chocolate Chip smoothies for breakfast, and strawberry-feta-mint salads with lunch and dinner, for example. And since we always have a giant bag of limes on hand (mostly for Keith’s Gin and Tonic cocktails!), this was an obvious combination.
After taking one sip of the water, I realized that it tastes a lot like one of my favorite drinks — a Mojito — thanks to the mint leaves and the fresh lime. Minus the alcohol and the sugar, this is a “mocktail” that you can drink at any time of day! To jazz it up even more, I like to use seltzer water sometimes, too!
Cheers!
Ingredients
- 6 cups filtered water
- ¼ cup fresh mint leaves
- 2 limes sliced
- Ice
Instructions
- Fill a pitcher with 6 cups of water.
- In a small bowl, use your fingers to toss together mint and limes, working the mint leaves to gently release some of their oils and flavor.
- Stir limes and mint into the water. Refrigerate for 10 minutes, or up to 2 days for the flavors to infuse into the water. The longer you let it chill, the stronger the water will taste.
- Serve with ice, if desired.
What a fun mocktail, Blair! I try to drink a lot of water, but it’s hard, so I definitely need to try this. I love the mint and lime flavors. Sounds so refreshing, especially since it’s been SO hot lately!
Thanks, Gayle! This is definitely the best way to enjoy water!
This water sounds so refreshing, Blair! I don’t drink nearly enough water but I bet I could chug several glasses of this summery beverage.
Thanks, Jen! 🙂
Oh gosh, it looks like I have found my new summer “mocktail” – looks perfect for the hazy hot and humid coming our way!
Exactly, Kate! Bring on the humidity!
This looks so refreshing! With this heat, I’ve been joking I need an IV to stay hydrated!
I’m sure you do! Your heat is NO joke, Megan! Drink up! 🙂
This water looks so refreshing! And your pictures of it are gorgeous!
Thanks so much, Kristine!
Oh my goodness do you KNOW how much this post speaks to me?!?! I’m in the middle of a move, it’s HOT, and I’m 8 months prego. You must have read my mind for the perfect refresher. And that is why I love you..
Hah, that’s true, Chrissa! You are the PERFECT audience for this particular recipe! ?
But oh my gosh…that baby is coming SOON! So exciting! Hang in there, Mamma!
I love mojito. I love water. I love this! You know I will be making! CHEERS!
Cheers to YOU, my friend! I’ve said it many times — we have the same tastebuds! 🙂
That mojito water looks delicious! Definitely making some for our bbq party on the 4th!
Thanks so much, Spencer!!!
I’m not sure why…but the mint is making my water taste grassy. Is there a certain type of mint I should be using?
Hey, Colleen! I don’t use a special type of mint (at least not that I’m aware of). 🙂 I have it planted in my herb garden in the summer and I just pull it off of the plant when I need it.
If you leave the mint in the water for a long time, it will definitely release a stronger flavor (and maybe a grassy flavor that you don’t care for). An alternative would be to leave the mint out of the pitcher until you’re ready to serve the water. When you want to drink the water, add the mint leaves and rub them or press them to release their flavor and oils right before drinking (kind of like when a bartender muddles the mint in your glass for an alcoholic mojito cocktail). Hope that helps!
