September often means a change in schedules for many families. Back-to-school season is in full swing; we’re starting to see fall-inspired flavors everywhere and thinking about food that will keep us satisfied in the cooler weather.

Fall officially kicks off in September and so does the celebration of a mainstay for so many families with National Rice Month, which celebrates the rice harvest and honors the contribution of the U.S. rice industry to America’s economy.

This Healthy Dessert Rice Bowl Is A Family Staple

Rice is an easy family staple that makes meal planning and prep easy for everyone, especially with products on hand like Minute® Ready to Serve Rice since it’s ready in just 60 seconds. Plus, rice is versatile. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts can be made using this go-to ingredient.

Whether you work in an office and eat a couple of meals each day at your desk, or you’re running in a million different directions with kids at home, this rice bowl is for you!

It utilizes simple and nutritious pantry staples that you can just stir together and microwave. In a matter of minutes you will be dipping your spoon into a warm bowl of comforting, sweet and creamy rice!

Are you ready for the details? These Minute® Ready to Serve Whole Grain Brown Rice cups are the secret to healthy portability.

We all have a few go-to products in the cabinet or desk drawer that we can turn to in a pinch, right? This recipe is comprised of some of my favorite staples! The Minute® Ready to Serve Whole Grain Brown Rice is a versatile product that can be eaten for any meal, from breakfast to dessert to a quick pre or post workout snack.

If necessary, you can enjoy it on-the-go, straight from the cup. In just 60 seconds, you have fully cooked rice in a portion-controlled single-serving cup with nothing to add. Or, you can plus it up with a few other ingredients…like peanut butter, banana, and CHOCOLATE!!

That’s right, I said “chocolate.” In a healthy recipe! I just use a tiny bit of the mini semi-sweet chocolate chips to give it that powerful punch of rich flavor without too much added sugar or calories. Plus, a little bit of dark chocolate each day can actually be good for us!

So if you’re feeling like you’re in a bit of a rut, but you’re just as time-crunched as me, go ahead and give this rice bowl a try. It’s a great alternative to your standard microwaveable oatmeal for breakfast or late-night rice pudding snack.

With tons of healthy whole grains, good fat, and other vital nutrients, it’s portion-controlled “fast food” that will actually do your body good!

And if you’re feeling really indulgent, go ahead and drizzle some extra peanut butter over the top for a creamy and delicious addition that will add even more staying-power to your meal. Peanut butter-chocolate-and-banana is a winning combination, whether you’re enjoying a pint of Chunky Monkey Ice Cream or a healthy bowl of brown rice!

And yes! I definitely think this would work as part of a healthy diet. It has whole grains, healthy fat, and protein — to keep you energized and full with quality ingredients. If you’re watching calories, just limit the chocolate garnish and the extra PB!
