Hi, there! I’m back today with an update (as promised) on the adventures that I’ve been having with my Omron Fitness Tracker. Are you ready to see what I’ve been up to? It’s always fun to go Walking with Friends!
You might recall that last month I shared a walking date that I had with my friend Kristin. Unfortunately, at that point the weather was still cold and snowy, so I was forced to head to the mall to meet her for an indoor stroll. And despite the nasty outdoor conditions, we still had a blast catching up while we stretched our legs.
In fact, it was so much fun that I have continued to get out and about with my girlfriends to squeeze in some additional social exercise. Most recently I met one of my other favorite gals, Margeaux, for a walk around her neighborhood. She works from home and she lives really close by, so we try to plan walking “study breaks” as often as we can possibly squeeze them in. The fresh air and exercise is good for our bodies, but it’s even better for our mood and our mental health!
On this particular day my older two boys were visiting their grandmothers for the day while they were on spring break from preschool, so Spence and I headed over to Margeaux’s house in the afternoon for a quick visit. Can you tell that someone was excited about our outing?!
And instead of wearing my rubber snow boots (like I did the last time), I was happy that a lightweight jacket in a bright spring color was all that I needed. Hooray for warmer temps and sunshine!!
This was the view as I was headed down my driveway. Again, much different from my previous snapshot of the ice-packed driveway just a couple of weeks ago!
Of course, I brought along my Omron Alvita Wireless Activity Tracker! I love how small and light it is (I just clip it on my clothes or carry it in my pocket). Plus, it’s effective! It keeps track of my steps throughout the day (as well as calories burned and other cool stats), and it uses Bluetooth® Smart technology to sync with my smartphone on the free Omron Fitness App. It’s great motivation to squeeze in just a few more steps each day!
Plus, if you’ve been considering buying a fitness tracker but you’re not ready to invest big bucks in some of the other more expensive models, then this one is for you. It retails for only $45, so it’s a great option if you’re a Fitness Tracker Newbie (like myself)!
Before I headed out on our walk, I had only moved for 2,971 steps that day:
When I arrived at Margeaux’s, she was ready and waiting for me!
And so was her other walking buddy: Bear!
We did a nice loop around the neighborhood, and when we returned to Margeaux’s driveway, her little guy was up from his nap and waiting for us. This is Spencer’s buddy, Ian:
A pretty cool dude, right? And check out his shoes…
Spence is so lucky to get most of Ian’s hand-me-downs!
Before heading home, I did a quick check of my tracker: 6,197 steps! It’s amazing that I was moving the whole time, but I never even felt like I was exercising. I was just enjoying some girl time with my friend!
So I headed off on my short 5 minute ride home, past a few farms, taking in the quiet, sunny scenery.
Then {BOOM!} it was back to reality — the mad dash to pull together dinner, put away laundry, and clean up the house before the boys arrived home from their “vacation” and Keith pulled in from work. A break for a few minutes was exactly what the doctor had ordered!

I hope that you’ll join me, Kristin, Margeaux, and many other women who have been inspired by Omron’s latest “Walk Out on Wednesdays” campaign. Grab a girlfriend, take a break from the stress of daily life and “walk out” on all of your other responsibilities so that you can enjoy some fresh air and take care of YOU!
